This course aims at providing students with the essential listening and speaking skills needed for English communication through various types of preparations and practices. Such communication skills including extensive and intensive listening as well as verbal and nonverbal delivery will be practiced through in-class learning tasks.
A variety of individual and collaborative activities will be incorporated in class to better prepare the students with hands-on practices and greater metacognitive awareness of their learning.
Selected video watching, pair work, group discussion,
presentation, and online assignments provide adequate practice in fluency and accuracy. Students
are encouraged to produce level-appropriate language and to bring their own personal experiences
to the learning context. It is hoped that students could achieve language proficiency, develop better
communication skills, and further meet their academic and professional goals.
